Dewald Tobias Brevis, is a South African cricketer known for his powerful batting and occasional leg-spin bowling. He plays for the Titans in domestic cricket and for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Dewald Brevis Made History
Dewald Brevis made history by becoming the youngest South African ever to score a century in a T20 International T20I match. On August 12, 2025, at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin, Brevis scored a blistering 125 not out off just 56 balls, including 12 fours and eight sixes, against Australia. He reached his hundred in 41 balls, making it the second-fastest T20I century for South Africa, only behind David Miller’s 35-ball hundred in 2017.
At 22 years and 105 days old, Brevis broke the previous record held by Richard Levi, who was 24 years and 36 days old when he scored his T20I hundred. Brevis’s score of 125 is now the highest individual score by a South African in men’s T20Is, surpassing Faf du Plessis’s 119. It is also the highest T20I score against Australia and the highest individual T20I score recorded in Australia.
Brevis’s innings helped South Africa post their highest-ever T20I total against Australia at 219 for 6. His knock included a significant 126-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs for the fourth wicket.
